McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy DESCRIPTION The Robert D. McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy at Montclair State University invites applications for a tenure track position in Child Advocacy and Policy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 2016. Area of research specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with interests in child welfare, disabilities and school-based policy. The Center, established in 1999, offers a minor in social work, a B.A. and M.A. in child advocacy and policy, as well as undergraduate and post-graduate certificates in child advocacy and policy. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship commensurate with experience. Assignments will include scholarly research, the pursuit of external funding, teaching each semester in multidisciplinary curricula in child advocacy and policy, child abuse and neglect, social work, and other courses related to children’s rights and the public child welfare system. The above statements reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position. QUALIFICATIONS Earned Ph.D. by August 1, 2016 in discipline related to child advocacy and policy (all allied disciplines are encouraged to apply, with special consideration being afforded to those with an MSW and/or Ph.D. in social work) and licensure if appropriate. College teaching experience required; prior supervision of graduate and/or undergraduate students in applied settings preferred. Experience in policy development and/or implementation as well as knowledge of the New Jersey public child welfare system strongly preferred. SALARY RANGE Salary dependent upon qualifications.
