The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has developed “Preventing Child Sexual Abuse within Youth-Serving Organizations: Getting Started on Policies and Procedures.” http://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pub/preventingchildabuse.html Also, the Massachusetts Citizens for Children (www.masskids.org ) has focused on prevention training within YSOs. Lastly, the National Children’s Advocacy Center has a recorded webinar on the subject: http://www.nationalcac.org/online-training/web-deborah-callins-04-23-2014.html Deborah Callins, MAEd Prevention Director National Children's Advocacy Center 210 Pratt Avenue, N.E. We are looking for: * Frameworks/guidelines/standards that have been developed to prevent child sexual abuse in organisations/institutions working with children (in Australia these are known as “child safe” practices – other terms may be used elsewhere) * Evaluations conducted on the effectiveness of frameworks/guidelines/standards or related initiatives * Information about the process via which these frameworks/guidelines/standards were developed including the empirical basis for the selection of individual standards or criteria We are aware of various activity in this area within Australia (e.g. Creating Safe Environments for Children – Organisations, Employees, and Volunteers: National Framework) and also: the US CDC Preventing Child Sexual Abuse within Youth-Serving Organizations; the international NGO’s Keeping Children Safe: Standards for Child Protection. Are there similar examples in your country/jurisdiction? With thanks in advance, and best wishes Kerryann Walsh Kerryann Walsh PhD Associate Professor Co-leader, Children's Rights and Welfare Program, Children & Youth Research Centre http://www.cyrc.qut.edu.au/ Network Co-Director, Excellence in Research in Early Years Education, Collaborative Research Network (QUT, CSU, MU) School of Early Childhood | Faculty of Education | Queensland University of Technology | Victoria Park Road, Kelvin Grove QLD 4059 | Phone +61 7 3138 3174 | Fax +61 7 3138 3989 | Email k.walsh@qut.edu.au | Office B411 KG Campus | Staff profile http://staff.qut.edu.au/staff/walshk/ | Publications http://eprints.qut.edu.au/view/person/Walsh,_Kerryann.html CRICOS No. 00213J
