Subject:Re: Parenting transracially

Rachel, There are training organizations such as Bridge Communications, that provides 'classwork' and field assignments, which require participants to exercises where they are the racial minority in various social situations (such as attending predominately Black church, going to a Black history museum, etc.) http://www.bridgecommunications.org/ (I am one of the speakers/presenters). There is also Pact in CA, which does a lot of training with white adoptive parents and they have a large suggested reading list http://www.pactadopt.org/resources/resource-library.html . These are just a few ideas. I also provide various workshops and seminars on transracial adoption across the country at Integrity Clinical Consulting and Training (and I am also a biracial, transracial adoptee) See info below. Hope this helps.
