Subject:Re: parenting measures

There are no good measures of parenting in general available for clinical/forensic use. The PSI is psychometrically sound but its use is limited. See chapter by albidin, Austin, and Flens. The PCRI has more problems psychometrically. See review by Otto &Edens in 2 nd edition of evaluating competences by Grisso. Also check the buros reviews. I would suggest identifying specific questions that need investigation rather than using a more global notion such as good parenting. For example, good parenting for children raised in the inner cities is often characterized by more authoritarian parenting while such parenting for those living in less dangerous areas would be viewed as undesirable - with authoritative parenting being observed more often.
