OK, good. what does RAI stand for? Are you aware of any published research? any unpublished? The RAI predicts the likelihood of recurrence of a substantiated child abuse and neglect report within two years with a high degree of accuracy. For example, over 70% of the families in the very high risk group had a substantiated report of child maltreatment within 2 years compared to less than 10% of the families in the low risk group. The RAI is designed to inform the decision regarding whether to open a case for child welfare services, regardless of whether the report ends up being substantiated or unfounded. The RAI is not intended to guide the decision whether to place a child in foster care. In NYS, the placement decision is based on a determination of imminent danger to the child, not on future risk of child maltreatment, which should be addressed by providing appropriate services to the family to reduce the risk. ________________________________ From: bounce-37974867-14489073@list.cornell.edu [bounce-37974867-14489073@list.cornell.edu ] On Behalf Of Dr. Bruce G.
