Subject:Research Assistant positions for Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Program

We are seeking 3 part-time research assistants, one for each of the following locations: Williamsport, PA, Pottsville, PA, and Port Arthur, TX. For details of the position please see below. We would appreciate if you could pass this information on to interested students or researchers. NOTE: Only female applicants are eligible due to safety reasons. Research Study Overview This research study is aimed at understanding how helpful new activities in the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program are to first time mothers. These activities focus on helping women stay safe in a relationship. Information from this study will help in the evaluation of the new curriculum for the NFP. General Position Description The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Research Coordinator at McMaster University and be responsible for assisting with various tasks associated with the research study, as outlined below. The RA will be working with the local NFP site in the area and will be an employee of West Virginia University. The RA must be able to work varying hours (approximately 20 hours per month) on a weekly basis and maintain participant confidentiality at all times. Training will be provided and the Research Coordinator will be available to discuss any questions or concerns that arise. The study will run for a period of approximately two years. Representative Duties & Responsibilities * Contact prospective participants, explain research study, and ask them regarding their interest in participating in the proposed study. * Obtain consent forms and administer research questionnaires and data collection materials during home visits. * Obtain consent forms and administer questionnaires to nurses and supervisors * Schedule appointments, and maintain up-to-date information of interviews scheduled and completed. * Participants will be contacted and a visit completed on several occasions throughout the study period (at intake, and at 6, 12, and 18 months). Visits may last approximately 1 -1 ½ hours. * Participate in regular teleconferences to provide research team with progress updates. * Travel to and from participant location is required. RA will be reimbursed for mileage expenses. Qualifications * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Highly efficient and organized. * Able to work with minimal supervision. * Have a valid driver’s license and access to a car. * Use of a cell phone is required.
