Subject:RE: In-home service outcome measures

Jim, My PhD thesis was a three year outcome study of a home based child protection assessment service for high risk families that were reported to the statutory child protection service in Sydney Australia. The service involved teams of two workers (Social workers and CP workers) who interviewed and observed the parent/s and children, and liaised with local agencies and services over a period of one week. Following this, they prepared a comprehensive report, including the family child protection history, developental histories of the children, drug and alcohol and mental health service interventions, school reports etc. The assessing team prepared a list of recommendations, to be followed up at a local level with the family. If you are interested in the findings, the thesis can be accessed at the attached sites. If you want a copy of the abstract or more information, please feel free to contact me directly at the email address below.Regards Janet Dr Janet Clark-Duff B.Soc.Stud. M.A. PhD. We basically send 2 therapists into the home to work with the family with the focus on keeping the child in the home, school and community. Most of the referrals are the last chance to keep the kid out of foster care, residential care or other alternative placements. Appreciate your thoughts on this.
