Subject:Re: parents with comorbid problems in child welfare
Hi Todd,
There is a fairly extensive literature in this area - trying searching for multi-problem, dual diagnosis or complex familiies. Research and child protection statistics consistently show families with multiple problems. For Australian child protection services the three most commonly featured characteristics of families involved with child protection are parental substance misuse, domestic violence and mental health problems.
Cheers,
Leah

Can someone on the list please suggest some literature about biological parents with comorbid problems in child welfare. How many families experience comorbid problems? Do they receive services? What are the chances they get their children back? What we can do as workers to help these families?
