Author:Gertrud Lenzer

Subject:perceptions of child maltreatment

FYI, our book on violence against children and on child maltreatment/ abuse and neglect -- both internationally and nationally -- is going to be published in mid-December. Here are the details: Gertrud Lenzer, ed. Violence against Children. Making Human Rights Real. New York: Routledge, Taylor & Francis, 2017. I will be sending you under separate cover an excellent article on child maltreatment in the US by another author. Best regards and good luck with your research, Gertrud Lenzer Dr. Gertrud Lenzer Professor Emerita of Sociology and Children's Studies Founding Director Emerita, Children and Youth Studies Program Founding Director Emerita, Children's Studies Center for Research, Policy and Public Service Brooklyn College and The Graduate Center of The City University of New York Founding Chair, American Sociological Association, 31st Section, Sociology of Children and Youth Member, New York State Advisory Committee to US Commission on Civil Rights, 2015-2020 From: bounce-121967003-79373643@list.cornell.edu [mailto:bounce-121967003-79373643@list.cornell.edu] On Behalf Of Leacock, Nicole Sent: Friday, October 20, 2017 8:50 AM To: 'Child Maltreatment Researchers' Subject: RE: perceptions of child maltreatment Hi, Joe, Here is some interesting work on the topic, but confined to Pennsylvania residents: http://www.pa-fsa.org/Childhood-at-Risk -Nicole From: bounce-121960417-79595243@list.cornell.edu [mailto:bounce-121960417-79595243@list.cornell.edu] On Behalf Of Joseph Ryan Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 11:39 AM To: Child Maltreatment Researchers Cc: Child-Maltreatment-Research-L@cornell.edu Subject: perceptions of child maltreatment **STOP. THINK. EXTERNAL EMAIL! **Be Careful clicking links and opening attachments** I am looking for any national surveys that tap into the perceptions - and more specifically the prevalence - of child abuse and neglect. Basically - does the general population understand the scope of maltreatment in the united states? My guess is that most people underestimate, but would like some evidence. Any leads or suggestions would be appreciated. Best, Joe -- Joseph P.
