The problem with not considering the injury is that injury is rarely the
intended consequence of physical discipline. Parents always "never meant
to hit them that hard" and are usually upset by the unintended results
of the own actions, whether these are marks from corporal punishment or
marks from hitting the floor, walls, etc from the force of the blow. But
the accountability must remain with the original action of the parents.
