Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect

The Kempe Center has an opening for a full time Program Director to provide leadership and direction to the Kempe Under Sixes Program, a home-based mental health service for children ages birth through five years who are involved with the child welfare system. 

This position is located at 1825 Marion Street in Denver, Colorado.  The UCDHSC is committed to recruiting and supporting a diverse student body, faculty and administrative staff.  The university strives to promote a culture of inclusiveness, respect, communication and understanding.

  

Job Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include working collaboratively and in partnership with Denver Human Services child welfare leadership and staff to ensure that young children and their families receive appropriate services.  The Program Director will work with child welfare staff and administration for case finding, training, and working with families collaboratively.  A major responsibility of this position is the weekly reflective supervision, in group and individual settings, provided to seven mental health clinicians working with infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers and their families.  Additionally, this person directs a project with three Early Head Start/Head Start sites where mental health consultation and training services are provided to their staff and the families.  The Director will be responsible for management of program growth.

 

Required Qualifications:  

*	Substantial knowledge of and experience with the child welfare system 
*	10-12 years of direct clinical work with families and young children, with emphasis in infant mental health
*	Experience with mental health treatment and services in home-based and alternative settings
*	5 years program management experience
*	Colorado licensure required
*	Master’s or doctorate degree in relevant field  

 Preferred Qualifications: 

*	Ability to work within systems both internal and external to mental health (e.g., judicial, educational, etc.) with emphasis on the child welfare system
*	Experience in dyadic treatment, play therapy, adult psychotherapy, and family treatment
*	Bi-lingual Spanish/English is a plus

Salary and Benefits

Salary range is $ 68,000 to $78,000 on a full-time equivalent basis.  The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package.  Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility, is located at http://www.cu.edu/pbs/
