In the near future, the first of several Children's Bureau FY06
discretionary grant funding announcements will be released. 

Beginning this year, ACF will no longer publish grant announcements in
the Federal Register.

Please see the attached Frequent Asked Questions document, for more
information about applying for Children's Bureau FY06 discretionary
grants.

When will the 2006 Children's Bureau Discretionary Grant announcements
be published? There will be several separate Children's Bureau funding
announcements this year rather than one consolidated announcement. They
will probably not all be released at the same time. 

Where will the 2006 Children's Bureau Discretionary Grant announcements
be published? The 2006 Children's Bureau discretionary grant
announcements will be published in Grants.gov at www.grants.gov and on
the ACF grant opportunity page at
http://www.acf.hhs.gov/grants/index.html . Beginning this year, they
will NOT be published in the Federal Register.

What is Grants.gov? Grants.gov is the single location for all Federal
grant program information. A short synopsis of each funding announcement
is posted here as soon as it is released for publication. You can visit
www.grants.gov now to look around and get familiar with how it works.
Grants.gov provides customer support via e-mail and telephone.

How do I find the Children's Bureau funding announcements in Grants.gov?
In Grants.gov, the Children's Bureau's funding announcements are listed
under the Funding Activity Category Social Services and Income Security
(sometimes listed as Income Security and Social Services), and under the
Agency Category Department of Health and Human Services.

Can I be notified when the Children's Bureau's funding announcements are
published? Visiting Grants.gov and the ACF grants opportunity page daily
is the fastest and surest means to access publication information. The
Grants.gov  web site has options for requesting automated notification.
In Grants.gov you can select categories of funding announcements, and
ask to be notified when these announcements are published. Another
option is to go to http://nccanch.acf.hhs.gov/search/grant_list.cfm  and
follow the instructions to have your e-mail address added to the
Children's Bureau FY06 funding announcement notification list serve. 

How do I get an application for a Children's Bureau discretionary grant?
After the announcements are published, download and print the
announcement and required forms. The announcement will include all the
information you need to complete and submit your application. 

What is a DUNS #, and how does my organization get one? A DUNS # is a
Data Universal Numbering System number.  Your organization must have a
DUNS # in order to submit an application.  You can apply for a DUNS #
now by calling Dun & Bradstreet at 1-866-705-5711 or by going to
http://www.dnb.com/us/ and clicking on "Get a D&B DUNS Number".

What if I don't have access to the internet? You may request printed
copies of the Children's Bureau funding announcements by calling the
ACYF Operations Center at 1-866-796-1591.

Will I receive a printed copy in the mail this year? Printed copies of
the 2006 announcements will not be routinely sent out as was done in
past years.  Print copies of the 2006 announcements will only be sent to
those who request them by calling the ACYF Operations Center at
1-866-796-1591.

How can I find out more about Children's Bureau Discretionary Grants?
You can visit the Programs and Funding Section of the Children's
Bureau's Web site at

Can I apply on-line? This is a new option that was implemented 2 years
ago. On-line applications will be accepted only through Grants.gov.
Detailed instructions for applying on-line are posted on grants.gov.
On-line applicants must first download a free software program and
register with the Central Contractor Register, a Credential Provider and
Grants.gov. Grants.gov provides customer support via e-mail and
telephone.
