<DIV>The short answer is yes. Authority to grant these waivers is currently authorized through December 31, 2005. (Authority has generally been extended along with the extension of funding for the Temporary Assistance to Need Families (TANF) program,&nbsp;and both were last extended by P.L. 109-68.) </DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>In&nbsp;addition, the&nbsp;House has passed legislation (the House-passed version of S. 1932 - commonly called the budget reconciliation bill) that would extend the authority to grant waivers for child welfare demonstration projects&nbsp;through FY2010&nbsp;and would also remove the limit on the number of waivers that can be granted annually. (The current limit is 10 per&nbsp;year.) Further, the House-passed legislation would make&nbsp;certain stipulations concerning the approval process for waiver projects and availability of reports about the projects. These changes appear intended to ease approval and expand report availability. The full Senate has not acted on legislation to extend child welfare waiver authority in this Congress but legislation to extend waiver authority through FY2010 (and which would make no other changes) was reported out of the Senate Finance Committee (S. 667) earlier this year.</DIV>
