size=3>This special issue will feature papers that advance our understanding of
the complexity of linkages between child maltreatment and violent
delinquency.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>While there has been
research suggesting that those abused or neglected in childhood are more likely
to engage in delinquent behaviors, the connection of child maltreatment<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>to violent behaviors in adolescence are
less clear.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>This special issue will
include an examination of some of the moderating factors and seeks to provide a
more nuanced assessment of these relationships.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Papers that rely on a more complex
understanding of child maltreatment (for example, research that teases out the
effects of different types of maltreatment or examines the compounding effects
of multiple victimizations) or of the social factors that may influence how
maltreatment impacts the developing child (for example, gender, ethnicity,
culture, and familial or community resources) are encouraged, especially
research that utilizes prospective data and innovative methods, analytic
strategies, or designs.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
