RE: Underreporting of maltreatment
While it does not have the statistics that you are seeking, here is a
thought-provoking paper on the subject of mandated reporting:
Melton, B.G. (2005). Mandated reporting: A policy without reason. Child
Abuse & Neglect, 29, 9-18.

Does anyone know of statistics/estimates (or ongoing research) on the amount
of underreporting of child maltreatment that occurs in the US? I have found
one reference by Sedlak but was hoping to find more.
Thanks,
Danielle
