This program, founded in 1985 by Congressman Bud Cramer when he was the District Attorney, was the first Children's Advocacy Center in the country. Position:  Executive Director, The National Children's Advocacy Center in Huntsville, Alabama - Competitive salary based on experience; benefits package; 40 plus hours per week; relocation assistance available if needed. 

Definition:  Responsible for managing, sustaining and growing a nationally known program to combat child abuse and neglect.  Work with Board of Directors to develop a long-term vision for the Center to provide services 
to local community as well as training and programs on a national level. Ensure effectiveness and sustainability of the Centers mission and goals to promote excellence in child abuse response, prevention and training. 

Responsibilities include: 

·       Manage, execute, and monitor a $5.5 million dollar budget. 

·       Develop and execute an annual strategic business plan. 

·       Analyze the distribution of funds and other resources among departments and programs for accuracy and conformance with organizational objectives. 

·       Coordinate and supervise grant writing activities and fund raising opportunities. 

·       Supervise the implementation and execution of the Centers programs and operations. 

·       Prepare timely and necessary reports and evaluations to the Board of Directors. 

·       Communicate with the Board of Directors and personnel regarding the goals, objectives, efficiency, and status of the Centers programs. 

·       Establish and maintain favorable working relationships with the Board of Directors, community groups, staff, associates and general public. 

·       Facilitate staff meetings and provide staff supervision and evaluation.  Prioritize and delegate staff priorities and responsibilities. 

·       Promote organization and interpersonal skills. 

·       Initiate and promote public relations with the community, social services, and the criminal justice system. 

·       Work in partnership with National Children's Alliance and other Centers nationally. 

·       Serve as a community liaison and assure effective working relationships among departments, agencies and key funding sources that are fundamental to the Centers mission and success. 

Requirements: 

·       Education: Masters Degree preferred, or a Bachelors degree with applicable experience. 

·       Experience in managing and supervising a large and comprehensive organization, personnel, and budget of similar size. 

·       Minimum of two years experience of senior management in a private or public sector organization. 

·       Experience and expertise in the development, analysis and execution of organizational budgets and strategic plans. 

·       Strong and effective organizational and leadership skills. 

·       Experience as a public speaker and community liaison. 

·       Experience in fundraising activities and grant research and writing or supervising such activities. 

·       Strong and positive communication skills, both verbally and written.
