Re: cycle of violence, cycle of abuse



I use the attached graphics in discussing the cycle of violence in 
my abuse and neglect/life span family violence class.  The first 
slide represents retrospective research where adult abusers report 
on their own victimization (the type of research that gives rise to 
the overgeneralized version of the cycle of violence) and the second 
represents prospective research showing the proportion of abuse 
victims who may go on to become abusers.  The figures are 
hypothetical, illustrative and not based on actual data. (Each figure 
has a two-part transition.  After pulling them up in powerpoint in the 
full screen Slide Show format, click on each to see the second part 
of each graphic.)
