<div>Dear Listserv members,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I am the Founder and Executive Director of a child abuse
treatment program outside Berkeley, California. It is a family and
child therapy training program and we serve mostly children and
families who are referred by CPS. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>I am a clinical psychologist and have created what I think is
quite an outstanding program, thanks to the help of many of you on this
listserv. However, I am not a very experienced Executive Director and
could some direction.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I am now moving toward writing grants to help us provide new
programs and also to fund some of what we already are doing. I have
mostly written grants to local foundation in the San Francisco Bay
Area. I have been relatively successful so far.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I would like to begin writing treatment oriented grant proposals
to the federal government. This feels somewhat intimidating and I
really don't even know where to start. I am interested in knowing who
are the government agencies that would be most likely to fund programs
in the area of child abuse.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I am in the process of expanding our child abuse treatment
program to a city nearby which is considered the most violent city in
California and the eighth in the nation (they actually rank for that
kind of thing). It is a very dangerous, poor area and I know the need
is great for specialized services. I think it would possibly be a good
site for federal funds.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If anyone has experience writing federal grants in the areas of
child abuse and /or violence prevention I'd love some guidance. Any
books, suggestions of possible grantmakers, or any ideas of how to
learn about writing a federal grant would be much appreciated. I would
love getting some mentoring in this area, so if anyone is looking to
mentor clinicians interested in prevention treatment/research, please
let me know.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks,</div>

I would suggest that you get in touch with the NIMH Division of
Pediatric Translational Research and Treatment Development.
Specifically I would discuss your needs and plans with Cheryl Boyce,
Ph.D. 301-443-5944, <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:cboyce@nih.gov">cboyce@nih.gov</a>, who directs the Child Abuse and
Neglect Program. She has been very helpful to us in the past in
advising on child abuse and neglect research applications.<br>

Good luck,<br>
