Is there possibility of getting a data subset that tells us how many of
the total number of maltreatment referrals and and substantiations
involved domestic violence.

The National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect is pleased to
announce the release of the NCANDS State-level data for the years
1990-2002.

The NCANDS, or National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System, is the
primary national source of information concerning reports of abused and
neglected children that are known to State child protective service
agencies. Each year, the Children's Bureau publishes Child Maltreatment
using data from the NCANDS. The majority of the tables and figures in
Child Maltreatment come from the State-level data.

The State-level data are available in two datasets, one covering the
years from 1990-1999 and the other covering 2000-2002. Variables include
State counts for the number of child abuse and neglect reports by report
source, the number of investigations by report disposition, and the
number of victims by maltreatment type, age, sex, race, or fatality
status. The number of children and families receiving services, the size
of the State's CPS work force, and other data are also provided.

Visit the Archive Web site at www.ndacan.cornell.edu for additional
information about the NCANDS State-level data and to learn how to obtain
the datasets for use in your own research.

Thanks,
Elliott Smith
