RE: instruments designed to measure characteristics of fosterparents
"The National Survey of Current and Former Foster Parents" may be of interest to you. The Administration for Children, Youth, and Families (ACYF), HHS, contracted with James Bell and Assoc. and Westat, Inc. to conduct a survey of foster parents in the early 1990's. The survey, conducted by mail and telephone, interviewed foster parents in 16 counties in nine States. The survey included information about foster parent characteristics, recruitment and retention issues. The publication is available from the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information; ordering information is available at http://nccanch.acf.hhs.gov/search/view_pub.cfm?recno=42324&simple=1&criteria=current%20and%20former%20foster%20parents&cb_website=1&rps=1&uberorgs=1&cb_express=1&calendar=1.

Subject: instruments designed to measure characteristics of
fosterparents
We are in the process of developing an on-line questionnaire as part of
a relatively large study of placement instability in substitute care.
Although, for logistical reasons, the survey respondents will be case
managers, the main "subject" of the survey will be relative and
non-relative foster care providers.
We are looking for any suggestions that people might have about
instruments designed to measure characteristics of foster parents or
other substitute caregivers (e.g. general adequacy, warmth/affection,
cooperation with case managers, etc.). Any and all suggestions would be
much appreciated.
Thanks,
az
