Even the simplest of assessments - how could all this be going on in a busy daycare center, with parents coming and going, post office delivering mail, etc. and not be seen - is not done on the statements. The issue of Judy Johnson's mental health is also never addressed, nor her apparent obsession with her son's 'bottom'. Finally, the fact that across the country another day care case was ongoing, but evidence was limited. The tables turned, however, when investigators from the McMartin case advised them. Suddenly, it looked a lot like McMartin. Seems fishy to me. As to the direct question, the DA did not find tunnels, and the parents planted evidence. There being so much invested in this case, though, people do not want the facts to get into the way of their beliefs. There was a second dig, as it were, by one E. Gary Sickel, PhD, but from what I have heard of the talks, the photos are nondescript, and can pretty much be anything. The report is available on some sites, however they leave out the forensic geologist's assessment of the day care site. I have that at my FTP site: DA Report: ftp://ftp.calweb.com/users/j/jmprice/sra/tunnels1.txt (It seems the parents had planted evidence, specifically turtle shells. Oh well.) Forensic geologist letter: ftp://ftp.calweb.com/users/j/jmprice/sra/geol-mm.txt There are also some GIF images of these documents on the my site as well, lest anyone say I mistyped them when I cleaned up the OCR. -- John M.
