Sorry to be so late to reply to Dan's request.  I should be able to come up
with a lot of suggestions, but my professional library is still partially in
boxes.  One good book is _Trauma and Recovery_ by Judith Herman, MD,
published by BasicBooks 1992.  This is general trauma, meaning lots of
different kinds, but should apply.  I have other that are aimed more at the
lay and professional reader, so will chime in again if I come across them.
