I would get in touch with the staff at the Nurturing Center in Columbia, SC. They specialize in parenting -- offering classes, itensive family treatment, etc. and are very well respected in this area. I'm sure that they have used some instruments to measure parent/child interaction in the course of providing their services.

Robert Longo asks a very important question--I'd like to take it further than
"observing parent child contact visits" and ask if there are any guidelines for
building parental capacity for parenting during parent child contact visits.

This assumes that some contacts are for observing/assessment and some are to help
parents improve their parenting and continue or resume parenting. Information
about parent "training" in the context of visiting (as compared to separate
instruction in parenting classes) would be much appreciated.

Hello List:

Does anyone out there have anything on guidelines for observing family
contact visits? Articles or research on best practice for supervising family
visits?

Thanks,

Season's Greetings, Rob
