name is Cameron Haring and I am interning in the planning and evaluation

division of the Mecklenburg County(NC) Department of Social Services. We

are currently working on building a database involving all children receiving

aide from public, private, or non-profit agencies in order to develop studies on

aided children from an aggregate perspective. For instance, we would like

to collect data on individual children receiving help from the united way,

foster care, their schools, mental health, and anything else. From

these records we would create a database that would allow us to study possible

correlations existing between aide and such things as reading capabilities,

behavioral changes, etc. The databases of this sort that we are now

aware of, concern only information on children receiving public aide. I am

researching whether or not this more encompassing type of database is utilized

for study anywhere else, and if so, what issues arise during its

implementation. I am not sure this if this is related to anyones research,

but I thought you may have heard of such a creation or previous studies of a

similar kind. I would greatly appreciate any wisdom that could be shared

on the subject. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
