RE: privatization of child welfare/ community based care/ managed care and child welfare

I am working on a different piece of the IV-E waiver in Texas than the PACE
project. According to the TDPRS website, the contact person for the IV-E
waiver projects is Janis Brown, Mail Code E-558, Texas Department of
Protective and Regulatory Services, 701 W. 51st Street, P.O. Box 149030,
Austin, TX 78714-9030, Phone: (512) 438-4411, Fax: (512) 438-3525. This is
the person with whom we have contact.

At the CWLA child welfare conference I just attended, a workshop was
presented on this project. The presenter was Ted Blevins, the Executive
Director of Lena Pope home, Inc. in Ft. Worth, TX.

Hope this helps.

Hi Scottye - I believe we may have spoken in the past, a
co-worker at
CWLA forwarded your request to me. Anyway, there are
independent
evaluations of all of the Title IV-E waivers, if you check
the website
http://www.dhhs.gov and click on the "Children's Bureau"
there is
information on all of the waivers, which I believe includes
information
on the independent evaluations. William Mercer is doing a
number of
these evaluations if you would like to try to get in touch
with them.

Also, I am working on wrapping-up the 2000 Tracking Project,
at this
		point the following states:
		Cuyahoga County, Ohio
		Connecticut,
		Indiana,
		Texas,
		Kansas,
		Michigan,
		Arizona,
		Washington,
		Missouri,
		Florida, and
		Baltimore, MD

have reported that they either have an independent
evaluation planned,
		underway, or completed.

Georgia, Illinois, Alabama, NYC, and North Carolina all
responded to
the survey but did not report an independent evaluation
process and
Oklahoma, Milwaukee, and California have either not
responded yet or let
us know that they are responding.

As for states that you are specifically looking for and I
actually
have...that leaves only Texas. In Texas, I would contact:
Cindy
Bourland, TDPRS, PO Box 149030, mail code E-620, Austin, TX
78714; phone
		512/438-4462; or cynthia.bourland@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope that is a little bit of help.

		Best of luck,

		Hello.
I am looking for information regarding managed care
initiatives and
programs in child welfare. I have followed the information
that was
provided in Children and Youth Services Review (Feb. 2000)
and have used
that as a basis for getting information on the 29
initiatives. However,
I have been unable to locate any of the evaluations of these
programs,
or information that goes past just a basic description.
Specifically, I
am looking for information on programs in
		Milwaukee County, Wisconsin
		Texas (project PACE)
		Georgia (project MATCH)
		Illinois
		Alabama
		New York City
		North Carolina
		Oklahoma
		California
and any others that you may know about.

Your help in locating this information would be greatly
appreciated.

		Thanks
		Scottye Cash
