Project Coordinator:  Funding is available for a project coordinator to
manage pilot activities leading to a controlled community-based efficacy
trial of an early child abuse preventive intervention.  The project
coordinator will assist the PI with intervention manual development, grant
writing activities, and data management, as well as with additional
planning activities for a long-term funded program in child abuse
prevention research.  The coordinator will assist in planning adjunctive
activities in support of funded studies affiliated with the program, such
as establishing research/practice roundtable, initiating a research briefs
newsletter, engaging community-based study sites and collaborating
agencies in joint intervention research activities.  This is an excellent
opportunity for the right candidate to become involved near the ground
floor of a newly expanding program of child abuse prevention research.

Required job qualifications include an advanced degree in a relevant
socio-behavioral/health related discipline (e. g. social work, public
health, etc.), plus two years prior experience. Demonstrated capacity in
program development, research and grantwriting assistance, including
preparation of proposals and accompanying materials, conducting of
background research for foundation requests, coordinating with
community-based study sites and collaborating investigators, assistance
with developing and managing budgets. Excellent organizational skills and
attention to detail required. Outstanding written and oral communication
skills essential. Interest, flexibility, and capacity to work closely as
a team player and to handle a steep learning curve as the project expands
to long-term program of research. Preference will be given to candidates
who possess experience and interest in early childhood and intervention
with vulnerable families and children, as well as to applicants who plan
to remain in the position several years.

This position opening is located at the Columbia University School of
Social Work, one of the premier graduate training and research
institutions in social work in the United States, playing a pivotal role
locally and nationally in practice and policy developments related to
vulnerable children and families.
