Important CMRL Policy Change
Dear Subscribers to the Child Maltreatment Research Electronic List,
The Child Maltreatment Research Electronic List (CMRL) has been receiving a
substantial number of submissions containing viruses and inappropriate
messages. Fortunately, the moderated nature of the CMRL prevents these
submissions from reaching the entire List. Submissions of this sort,
however, create a burden for the List moderator and generate errors to the
Cornell University list management system. Almost all of the problematic
submissions have been coming from non-subscribers to the CMRL. Therefore,
we will now permit submissions only from e-mail addresses subscribed to the
CMRL.
If you post a message from an address that is not subscribed, you will
receive an automatic message stating that you are not subscribed to the
CMRL. CMRL subscribers who possess multiple e-mail addresses are free to
subscribe under as many of their e-mail addresses as they wish. Of course,
subscribing under multiple e-mail addresses will create multiple copies of
all messages.
While we regret any inconvenience this change may cause you, we believe
that this policy is necessary to reduce the burden upon the Cornell
University computer system and the CMRL moderator, and the risk of release
of virus-infected messages to our valued subscribers. Thank you for your
participation on the CMRL.
Sincerely,
Veronica Banks
CMRL Moderator
