Re: CPS parent satisfaction measures

Hi Nicole and Anne,

I'm also forwarding your email the the guru of Cal State connections, Anne
Powell. She may have some other ideas.

The most interesting things I've seen are:

1) wraparound services: statewide eval being conducted by UC Berkeley
Center for Social Services Research (that's us). Looks like we're covered,
but SB163 (a parallel program for state eligible foster children) has been
rolled out statewide. You may be able to get someone at CDSS to bite and
there are definitely Bay Area counties involved. A similar program -
multi-systemic therapy - is out there as well (San Diego, I think). Scott
Hengeller is running that deal.
2) Family Group Conferencing: Again, we're doing an eval, but there are
counties out there that are doing FGDM and it's not being evaluated. We're
only looking at Fresno and Riverside. As an anthropologist, this might be
VERY interesting. The intervention comes from (depending who you ask) New
Zealand and their work with the Native Maori.
3) This is a stretch for reunification and maintenance, but it depends on
your definition (I'm a bit loose about these things). There's a lot of
good work being done at Edgewood Children's Center in SF with kinship
caregivers. If you define family pres more liberally, you might enjoy
working with them. They have an entire research division and you might
convince them to let you work with them. They are great folks. Contact
Don Cohon at 650-326-6429 website at http://www.edgewoodcenter.org/

Best of luck,
Aron
