RE: Children exposed to adult DV
Hilton, N.Z., Battered women's concerns about their children witnessing wife
assault. Journal of Interpersonal Violence, 1992. 7(1): p. 77-86.
70% of 20 women (aged 19-66 yrs) who had been battered by their partner
reported that their children witnessed the violence or its effects. In some
cases, children prolonged the woman's stay in the relationship, a tendency
sometimes manipulated by the fathers. The physical danger to the children
was identified by most women as the ultimate reason for leaving their
partner. Once the decision to leave was made, some women focused on
interrupting the intergenerational transmission of wife assault, especially
those whose boys had had prolonged exposure to the violence. (PsycINFO

I am looking for empirical data stating that adults involved in domestic
violence will seek help for their situation "because of" their children. I
believe I read this recently and can not locate the source. Was I just
wishing it to be so?
