models of child protection in the UK and the US

I have conducted a review of existing literature for factors that may 
influence the reliability of child protection data for documenting the 
course of child maltreatment. I have focused my study on Australian 
legislation, more specifically the state of Victoria.
Having completed the review I would like to determine how generalisable the 
findings are by comparing the Victorian model of child protection and 
accompanying legislation with a United States and United Kingdom example.
If any members of the list can provide me with, or direct me to, a 
description of a model of child protection and the accompanying legislation 
for either the UK or the US I would be very grateful.
