RE: group treatments for abusive parents

We have had success with Stephen Bavolek's parent nurturing programs with
substance abusers and inmates, but have not specifically targeted
physically-abusive parents. Please contact me off the list for further
information.

DHS just started the "Parenting Collaborative Initiative" in Phia and might
be a good source of what is being offered.

Hi there,

I am looking for any current research being conducted on group treatments
for physically abusive parents including parent training. I have found quite
a bit of info from the late 80s, early 90s (mainly work by Wolfe and
colleagues and Lutzker and colleagues) and am wondering if folks are still
conducting work in this area. I am particularly interested in treatment
outcomes, formats (i.e., didactic vs. parent-child interaction) as well as
teaching components included in these programs. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
