Re: child victims and press publicity

I believe all states in Australia have laws protecting the disclosure of
the identity of child victims and also juvenile offenders. For links to
Victorian legislation go to the victorian government website and follow the
links through to acts of parliament, specifically the childrens and young
persons act 1989

Here in the Northern Territory of Australia we have the Juvenile Justice
Act and
the Community Welfare Act (child protection and substitute care) which deal
with
children. Both prohibit the publication of any indentifying information
about
child victims or child offenders. The Sexual Offences (Evidence and
Procedure)
Act also prohibits releasing identifying information about child victims,
as
well as adult victims.

The source site is www.nt.gov.au/lant/hansard/hansard.shtml. Follow the
directions to see legislation by title, alphabetically sorted.
