The California Institute for Mental Health has screening tools that were developed for their Caring for Foster Youth Project. You can find them on their website at http://www.cimh.org/index.html?ptype=content&menuid=9&pid=69&session=6dcd6cb11fc4cf944642d53ac069415d
Also see Bright Futures in Practice from the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health at Georgetown University, available at http://www.brightfutures.org/mentalhealth/index.html
The Child Trauma Academy in Houston, Texas is doing work on PTSD, and has worked with public child welfare agency in Texas on screening children in care. See http://207.235.43.156/ctaservices/Core_Assess_fact_sheet.asp for information.
David Conrad in Denver has done work with foster parents around child trauma and secondary trauma - see information at http://www.casey.org/cnc/support_retention/secondary_trauma.htm
For general information about health and mental health of children in out-of-home care, check the Casey Family Programs National Center for Resource Family Support website at http://www.casey.org/cnc/support_retention/nav_health.htm

I am interested in any information about innovations in the assessment and treatment of children in Foster Care. Perhaps your state has a particularly unique method, or perhaps you know of a program for a particular condition such as children in foster care who have PTSD or conduct disorder. I also am interested in research-based programs that train foster parents to address child disorders.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve Ondersma
