| Hi everyone - I thought that I would try to answer all questions in one email. Yes, there are penalties for failing to report ($1000 fine, up to 6 months in jail, loss of license.) We have the problem with all agencies - private, counseling, schools, etc. The best reporters are hospitals. I am in California, but I have yet to find somewhere where this is being enforced. THe call that remotivated me on this quest regarded a child with bruising all over him - chest, stomach, arms, backs, etc. When I called the MR, the response was, "Oh OK." When I pointed out that a child could die if he/she were continuing to be abused this way, it was "Oh." I know that teachers are required to memorize the law, licensed persons also have to know it for boards, etc. I appreciate the info I have received thus far, esp. the articles. Too often we hear, "oh well I did not really think it was abuse." Or, "But they are a good family." We do outreach in schools or anywhere that will have us, but, alas, it does not reach everyone. Thanks for your help and please continue if you have more!! Beverly >From ???@??? I am not certain if there is such an assessment in existence or if one could be pulled together from more than one source, but if you have ANY suggestions or could refer me to a resource that might be useful that would be GREAT! I have been doing some searching for such an assessment and have not had much luck. Unfortunately, this is what is holding service up at this point, as we hope to provide some individual case management with the youth that are enrolled in the program, but do not want to move forward until we have a good way to assess the strengths and needs of the youth. Anyway you can assist in this matter would be wonderful. Thanks in advance for your time! Jacqueline S. Votapek, M.S.W. Director of Children & Youth Services John H.
