Subject: Multidisciplinary Teams

Hello:

The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act of 1974 required states to
establish multidisciplinary teams to assist state child protection agencies
and courts in assessing and responding to child maltreatment. Most states
have established such teams by statute. I am interested in knowing what
research is available as to their current use and their effectiveness in
terms of aiding in evaluating and responding to cases of maltreatment.

Here in Michigan the law requires the state agency to establish such teams,
but in practice it seems that they are rarely used.

I would appreciate your thoughts.
