incarcerated parents & undocumented parents/caregivers

Florida DFCS did a really interesting study on the benifits of maintaining
mother child contact despite early termination laws. (laws coincidentally
reflected average minimum sentences- strange that?)

Seems mothers who had some hope of children being returned, and regular
visits had stronger and more successful relationships after release (I kid
you not) and also vastly greater non recidivism rates (rehab anyone?).

another example of much needed and useful research that doesn't happen much
in this field! looking for citation- but think around 1997.

cheers
John
