RE: Lifetime cost of child abuse and neglect, per child
When you find out, please share it on the list! I'd love to have this info
for an upcoming benefit-cost analysis I am planning of child abuse treatment
agencies.
I do have a reference for the cost of not providing treatment to a child
participating in deliquent behavior/crime in case this is of interest:
Cohen, Mark A. The monetary value of saving a high-risk youth. Journal of
Quantitative Criminology, 14:1, 5-33.
It would be great if there was a similar piece for child abuse.

Subject: Lifetime cost of child abuse and neglect, per child
Hi Everyone,
I have an old statistic from the University of Minnesota (Fact Find,
University of Minnesota, Center for Early Education and Development, 1990)
that says the estimated lifetime cost to society is more than $2 million for
each abused child. I have tried to verify this information, but cannot
locate the source.
Does anyone know how I can get more information about this lifetime cost
figure?
