GSA Finale
Thank you to all who posted on the question of Genetic Sexual Attraction. I
hope those who did not understand the term were, like me, educated by the
posts that were informative.
In posting the topic, I was hoping to get a definition and to find out how
widely the problem was recognized.
Interestingly the Child-Maltreatment Research List won the category of more
informative postings. The ATSA (Association for the Treatment of Sexual
Abusers) list won the category of posting related to scratching their heads
and saying they never heard of it before. (This is where I was.)
The thing that is interesting is that ATSA has sexual offense and offenders
as a professional focus and they did not recognize GSA. That could mean
that this is a small problem, or that GSA is a problem that is typed
differently, or that there is a low level of legal intervention, or any
number of similar explanations.
The people who responded with information from Child Maltreatment seemed to
come from the fields of research and post adoptive services. I did get one
off list email from a post adoptee who had researched and experienced the
phenomena herself.
Having received all of this information, I have enough to satisfy my
curiosity. Thanks again!
