RE: suggested text books
The American Humane Association, Children's Services, publishes Helping in
Child Protective Services: A Competency-Based Casework Handbook (1992).
This 400+page text is used by schools of social work and state child welfare
training academies. The book costs $25 which includes shipping.
The correct citation is:
Filip, J., McDaniel, N., & Schene, P. (1992). Helping in child protective
services: A competency-based caseworkhandbook. Englewood, CO: American
Humane Association.
Let me know if you need more information.

Dear List Members:
I am organizing a reading group at my agency. I would like recommendations
on recent/comprehensive child welfare text books (ones that describe many of
the issues facing families and states). Many of our staff are not
university trained. Books commonly used in schools of social work would
probably be the most helpful. Suggestions?
Rick
