I work on a forensic evaluation team for a trauma clinic. We do
parental fitness as well as perpetrator and trauma evals for children, juveniles
and adults. All of our clients are cps involved, and most are court
involved through child and protection petitions. We are interested in
incorporating standardized instruments into our practice protocols for our
evaluations. As a doctoral student, I am familiar with some instruments
used to measure level of violence, conflict, risk assessments, level of trauma
and child abuse potential. However, I have found that some
instruments while very useful for research are not as useful for
evaluations. We are looking for standardized instruments which we can use
in our forensic evaluations (especially those that have been normed to the
population).
Can anyone suggest some instruments (e.g. - instruments that can ALSO be
used reliably in evaluations rather than just for research
purposes?). We are familiar with the CBCL and are looking for a list
of other related and potentially helpful instruments to review. Please
include information on how to obtain such instruments if
available.
Thank you in advance for your responses,
Tien Ung, LICSW
