The annual
colloquium of APSAC (the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children)
will take place July 23-26 2003 in Orlando Florida. Top national experts from
social work, law enforcement, psychology, medicine, law, and other fields will
share their practice ideas and research in a collegial atmosphere in a tropic
setting.
For the seventh
year, the APSAC Colloquium will begin with a full day of programing on Cultural
Issues in Child Maltreatment. This year's Cultural Institute will open with a
panel on:
Sexual Abuse
in the Catholic Church: What it means to the Rest of Us
and will include
special workshop on topics including:
- Muslim
Families & Child Maltreatment Issues
- Working with
Hispanic Men who are VIolent in Their Families
- Santeria &
AfroCaribbean Religions

Survivors & Families: Cultural Considerations

Sessions on cultural
issues in child maltreatment will be held throughout the colloquium, in the days
following The Cultural Institute.
