CORRECTION RE: problems with kinship care

PLEASE SEE CORRECTION IN CAPS BELOW

We do not yet have a published paper on our kinship findings, although we
are planning to submit one for publication in the next few months. I think
what is being referred to is a paper we presented at a conference. Our
findings show that longer length of time in KINSHIP CARE is predictive of
more adverse outcomes. We have not presented any findings regarding length
of time in foster care or foster care placement, per se.

Feel free to contact me off-list if you have further inquiries.

I'd like to see the material you referred to but a PsychInfo search yielding
7 hits on Heather Taussig did not include anything on that topic and a
search on the American Humane web site yielded no hits at all. Can you be
more specific as to where one might look? Is the name perhaps spelled
differently?

Thanks,
Ron Kokish

Some work done by Heather Taussig at the Kempe Center looked at this. They
found children in the foster care system had more positive outcomes if they
were place in non-kin foster homes. I think she published a couple articles
on this topic also.
