FAmily Violence-Child Abuse Course texts
I am teaching a three credit college level course for professionals
working with children and youth. The course covers the full range of
family violence issues, including partner abuse and wife battering,
children who witness violence, sexual assault of children, child abuse
and neglect, emotional-psychological abuse and elder abuse. I have
designed the course so it has both a theoretical and skills component.
For the past few years I have been using the text "Family Violence
Across the Lifespan" by Ola W. Barnett, Cindy L Miller-Perrin and Robin
D. Perrin, because it covers the range of topics in the course. This
was written in 1997. Does anyone else teaching a similar course have
any other ideas for a course text. I have supplemented using this text
with provincial and Canadian information because the text is US based,
but it is also a few years old now and I would like a more current
resource.
