census on out of home placements

I am current studying out of home placement for
children.  I am interested in all out of home
placements - from the least secure to the most secure.
I am particularly interested in research that
documents the numbers of kids in various out-of-home
placement settings.  For example, I know the federal
governmen produces the children in custody report
(CIC).  Are there similar reports that document the
number of chilren in foster care, hospital settings,
group homes, shelters, etc.  Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.
