physical abuse in stepfamilies

To list members:
I'm attempting my query again:
Does anyone know of a recent source(s) that would provide information on
the numbers/proportion of children physically abused by a stepparent and
numbers/proportion of children living in stepfamilies who are physically
abused by their biological parent?
I've been interested in this area for some time and other than a few
studies published late 80's/early 90's comparing sample proportions of
stepchildren physically abused to the estimated proportion of children
living in stepfamilies, little work has been done in this area. It appears
that there is no active tracking and reporting of children physically
abused by a stepparent or a parent while living in a stepfamily. How are
offenders categorized in local reports? Are stepparents included in the
"parent" category? Is household type (other than married or single-parent)
recorded?
Any thoughts/information on this would be appreciated.
