Family Work
Colleagues
I am looking to develop a service for families where one of the children is
aged 11-14 and whose behaviour is such that the parent(s) are struggling to
cope. Typically a child who is refusing to go to school, being violent in the
home or commiting serious offences or lots of offences.
At present we offer a number of session based services to such parents and
families but we are looking to develop a service where the whoe family move
into a residential setting for a period of time and workers are present to
help the family develop new strategies .
Clearly there is a risk of the family becoming dependent on the new
environment and we are mindful of that. Additionally, there may be merit in
workers workig from the family home instead of moving the family.
I'd be really grateful if anyone knows of literature / warnings of pitfalls
etc.
