Re: Institutional Abuse
Dr. Wolfe,
I have a number of publications which include guidelines for the investigation of institutional child maltreatment. Most of the information came out from about 1982-1987. Nolan Rindfleish @ Ohio State(as mentioned by an earlier response)was very active in this subject wrote several publications and convened a conference in 1982. Cornell University , Family Life Development Center, has been a leader in training in the subject of institutional child maltreatment . Michael Nunno would be an excellent contact.
In addition to the NY Commission on Quality of Care, who also did a lot of good work in this field, New Jersey and Colorado published manuals on how to prevent and investigate institutional child maltreatment. Janet Motz in Colorado is particularly knowledgeable on this subject. Other states with manuals include Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Maryland. All of this material dates to the 1980's.
If you need specific references, you can contact me and I will attempt to compile one.

Colleagues:
Does anyone have an interest or special expertise in institutional abuse? We are looking for studies, govt. reports, clinical observations, etc. as part of a literature review on this topic, including institutions such as educational, recreational, religious, military, and special needs (mental health, corrections, and social services).
Although these encompass broad areas, there are few studies we can find that specifically look at the impact of abuse in such contexts (other than familial/extra-familial). We are preparing a "conceptual model" which we would like to share with interested parties for their input as well.
Thanks
