Dear members,

Please bear with me ..... I am looking (again - since my database died) for
referances to written material / research papers, seminal articles
etc., dealing with the following:

1    Research findings on the cost (in conceptual or actual terms)
     of intervening or not intervening in child abuse cases (all
     quantifiable relevant costs) ranging from  admin / bureaucratic /
     opportunity costs / costs associated with later ivolvement of the
state
     in the life of a person harmed as a child by abuse / neglect and so
     on.
2    Statistics and frameworks used to argue the specifics of the
     question - "why should taxpayer dollars go into the cause of child
     protection?" How do you convince bean-counters that it is a sound
     investment of tax dollars to intervene at the point of substantiated
     risk of abuse/significant harm or beyond?

My primary focus is the point of involvement being substantiation of (at
least) risk of significant harm- not looking at the prevention arguments
just now....please don't hesitate to indicate info you have some in the
prevention area though!! If you think I should be looking at other lists as
well could you please provide me with address and protocol for membership
please?
