RE: Male vs. Female Abuse towards children

Third National Incidence Study of Child Abuse and neglect, Chapter 6
addresses your question very specifically - see especially the table on page
9 of that chapter. It's available from U. s> Dept of Health and Human
services . Executive Summary may be found at
http://www.calib.com/nccanch/pubs/statinfo/nis3.htm

See also "Child Maltreatment, 1998 - Reports tot he States from the National
Child Abuse and neglect Reporting System. This is summarized at
http://www.calib.com/nccanch/pubs/factsheets/canstats.htm

As a rule, the best place to begin looking for this kind of information in
the National Clearing House site at http://www.calib.com/nccanch/index.htm

In all of the research I have been doing I cannot find any statistics on who
does more of the child abusing in the US is it women or men?? Do you have
any stats of perhaps you can direct me to a website that would have this
information.

Thank you very much- Jeannine
