<x-rich>I would imagine that varies by state. I also think it brings up an
ethics issue which might be dealt with at the onset. That is if
participants are informed upfront that reporting child maltreatment is
the law and that you are a mandated reporter, they can choose not to
participate in the research. It's questionable to me whether, if you
are a mandated reporter by law, you are or should be exempt from
reporting just because you are doing research.
